Thomas Downie

I’m Thomas, the founder of The Pre-Hospital Classroom and a frontline Emergency Medical Technician with over seven years’ experience in pre-hospital care. Before joining the ambulance service, I served in the police, which gave me a strong foundation in decision-making, professionalism, and managing high-pressure situations.

Alongside my frontline role, I’m an instructor delivering pre-hospital care education and an Ambulance Operations Mentor, supporting the development of clinicians on the road. Training and education have always been a huge passion of mine, which led to the creation of The Pre-Hospital Classroom nearly five years ago.

The platform was built to provide high-quality, practical, UK-focused learning resources designed by someone who truly understands the realities of the job. My aim is simple: to help raise standards, build confidence, and support clinicians at every stage of their pre-hospital career.
